GARDENING TIPS

GARDENING TIPS

Time to get busy readying the soil in your garden.   Many people ask me if it’s time to plant now.   A general rule is the soil temperature should be at least    45° F before planting.  If you are anxious to get started, try covering one section of your garden with black plastic or sheets of plywood for a few days.  This will help the soil warm so when you do plant seeds they will germinate quicker. Peas, lettuce, beets – all could be planted early but need that warm soil temperature to actually germinate.
